Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Everything But The Chef (“EBTC”, “we”) is a meal-planning app built around a simple privacy idea: your kitchen’s data belongs in your kitchen. There are no accounts, no email addresses, no analytics trackers, and no advertising. We never sell or share your data.
Data stored on your device
Everything you do in the app — your weekly meal plans, grocery lists, custom recipes, household members’ names, and their dietary preferences — is stored locally on your device. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Optional household sync
If you turn on household sync (an EBTC Plus feature), the data needed to share your plan is stored on our server so your household’s phones can stay in step:
- Planned meals and serving counts
- Grocery list items and their checked-off state
- Custom recipes you’ve added
- Household members’ first names (or whatever names you enter), their dietary preferences, and ingredients they won’t eat
- A household name, an invite code, and a random device token
We want to be plain about one thing: dietary preferences can hint at health or religious practices. We treat this data accordingly — it is used only to plan meals for your household, is visible only to devices that join your household with your invite code, and is never used for advertising, profiling, or anything else.
Sync data is not tied to your identity — there are no accounts, and device tokens are random. It is stored on servers in the United States (Amazon Web Services) and kept while your household is active. To have a household’s data deleted, email support@everythingbutthechef.app with your invite code and we’ll remove it promptly.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases; it receives your purchase history and an anonymous, randomly generated identifier — never your name or email. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
What we don’t do
- No accounts, no email collection
- No analytics or tracking SDKs
- No advertising, no data brokers, no selling data
- No use of your data to train AI models
Children
EBTC is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above. Material changes will be called out in the app’s release notes.
